St. Simon's Island Newborn Photographer | Hospital Sessions AKA Fresh 48 Session
Being a newborn photographer in the St. Simon's Island and Brunswick area, I often get asked about hospital sessions AKA Fresh 48 sessions. While most of my clients typically commission me for their studio newborn session or at home lifestyle newborn session, some also ask about a Fresh 48 session. What is it exactly? How does it work? Isn't it really just the same thing as a newborn session? What types of portraits will I receive?
What is a Fresh 48 session? Fresh 48 sessions are for new families who want the first few hours of their newborn’s life captured. This session is ideal for those who may not be interesting in having their entire labor or birth documented. They are done within the first 24-48 hours of your baby’s life in the comfort of your hospital room. These lifestyle sessions are perfect for remembering that first day forever.
How does it work? Generally these sessions are planned and reserved in advance. I generally need to be notified soon after you are in labor or right away after you've delivered. If you have a scheduled induction date or C-section date, it makes scheduling your Fresh 48 session even easier. This is not a traditional newborn session; I will not pose the baby or bring props or lights. This will just be me capturing your baby’s sweet new moments in a fresh natural way!
Isn't it really just the same thing as a newborn session? Again, this is not a traditional newborn session; I will not pose the baby or bring props or lights. A Fresh 48 Session is very similar to an at home lifestyle newborn session except it takes place at the place in the hospital. It is usually a fairly quick session. I am with you and photographing for about an hour. These images are almost always presented to you in black and white as that is my preferred style for these sessions.
What types of portraits will I receive? I'm so glad you asked! I have included a few of my favorite portraits from recent Fresh 48 session with clients for you to see. I hope this will give you a general idea of what to expect should you decide to book a Fresh 48 session.
A hospital session, or Fresh 48 session is always a sweet session to add on to your more formal newborn session. If you have reserved your newborn session in my St. Simon's Island studio, you should definitely consider adding on a Fresh 48 session. We can even possibly arrange it to take place when baby's sibling is coming to meet them for the first time, or when special family members may be coming for a visit. If you have reserved an at home lifestyle newborn session, I would say that this would be something to consider if you have the budget for it as it's very similar to an at home session with the exception of the location, of course.
I hope this blog post helps clear up any questions you may have on hospital sessions AKA Fresh 48 sessions. If you have further questions or would like to contact me to discuss the possibility of adding this to your newborn session, please don't hesitate to contact me HERE.
Are you expecting and interested in commission your newborn experience with CHP? My clients typically commission their session with me when they are in their 2nd trimester to ensure availability. I'm currently fully booked for November and March and I have two openings in October and February and just one opening left in December and January. I only commission a few newborns per month in order to provide the best quality service. You can contact me HERE today to find out more information.
